At La Ventana addiction is treated as a disease whether it be sexual or chemical or a combination of both. It is a disease that affects the entire family and our approach to treatment is to work with the addict and their family or significant other. If left untreated, addiction will escalate often resulting in increased chemical use, use of stronger and more potent drugs, increased intensity of sexual behavior, and often risky or illegal sexual actions that can lead to arrest. The addictive behavior has consequences such as loss of family, job, loved ones, integrity, and basic joy in life. The addict often becomes isolated and “gets high” alone or acts out compulsive sexual behavior secretly. At La Ventana, we create an individualized approach to each patients recovery to deal with intimate issues and move the addict out of isolation and into healthy and appropriate behaviors.
